21st Annual SACP/SSP Faraday Lecture
The SSP/SACP Faraday Lectures (formerly SSP/SACP Faraday Christmas Lectures) were initiated during fiscal year 1988/1989 to provide a series of annual science lecture-demonstrations for high school students in the Pittsburgh Area. The lecture-demonstrations were to follow in the traditions set by the great 19th century scientist Michael Faraday who loved to share his enthusiasm for doing science with others, particularly with young people.
The SSP/SACP program was first proposed by society members David McMillin and J. Kevin Scanlon. All presentations were held at Soldiers and Sailors Hall in Oakland. The average annual student attendance exceeded 2000. In recent years the dates has been changed from Christmas time to early/mid November.
This year, the 21st Annual Faraday Lecture will be presented by Mr. Bob Becker of Kirkwood High School, St. Louis, Missouri, titled: "Chemistry Demonstrations Guaranteed to Knock Your Socks Off" at the following schedules:
